History of Price River

Named in 1924 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for C.M. Price, an enlisted man who accompanied Ensign W.L. Howard, U.S. Navy (USN), on his expedition from Fort Cosmos, on the Kobuk River, to Point Barrow in the spring of 1886.
