Located in the Chugach National Forest. Heads in an unnamed lake, at the NW base of Sheridan Glacier, flows S to the Sheridan River and Gulf of Alaska, 11.3 km (7 mi) W of McKinley Peak and 21 km (13 mi) SE of Cordova, Malaspina Coastal Plain. 10 miles long.

History of Glacier River

So named in 1900 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) "because it heads at a glacier."
