HistorySo named in 1950 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) because the fifth and farthest north belt of the Lisburne (limestone) group is exposed on Lisburne Ridge, a narrow hogback that coincides with a major fault (Chapman and others, 1964, p. 342).
