On the E bank of the Nigu River, 4 mi S of its mouth, 22 mi. NE of Howard Pass, Arctic Slope.
Named in 1925 by Gerald FitzGerald, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for the multi-colored chert in the bluff. "Nigu" is an Eskimo word for "rainbow."
