HistoryEskimo name published by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1956. This name was originally shown applied to what is now the Meade River on a manuscript map referred to as Cullinghow's map of Cape Lisburne, done by an Eskimo about 1890. Lieutenant P. H. Ray (1885, p. 55), USA, shows Kulugrua for the Meade River.
