History of Washburn Peak

Named in 1887 by Lieutenant Commander C. M. Thomas, U.S. Navy (USN), probably for Cadwallader Colden Washburn, 1818-1882, a major general in the Union Army in the Civil War, U.S. Representative from Wisconsin, 1867-71, and Governor of Wisconsin, 1872-74.
