Historycalled by the Russians "My(s) Sikharnoy golovy" (Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1427, dated 1849) and "My(s) Sakha Golovy"(Tebenkov, 1852, map 20), both names meaning "Cape Sugar Loaf." Capt Lutke (1836, p. 341), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN) calls it Pain de Sucre,""sugaarloaf;"so called from its appearance.
