History of Rim Butte

Name was published by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1951. Named in 1950 by I. L. Tailleur, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), geologist with the Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 4 explorations because of the "prominent butt of rimrock."
