History

this is a Tanana Indian name published in 1861 by P. Tikhmeniev as "Oz(ero) Mintokh" or "Lake Mintokh." apply the name to a vaguely shown single lake, present-day usage applies the name to all the lakes in this lowland area. Geoghegan spells the name "Mintu," the first syllable, "min", meaning "lake."
