About

NW-SE trending lagoon on the coast of the Chukchi Sea, just S of Angayukak Creek and 4.2 mi NNW of Cape Thompson, Arctic Slope. 2 miles long.

History

Named in 1962 by Project Chariot personnel for nearby Akoviknak Mountain and is an Eskimo name reported to mean "one that resembles a White Whale.
