History

Named in 1929 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) for "Robert Peratovich, merchant and influential citizen of Klawock." This island was reported in 1929 by Captain Patton, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), to be known locally as "Graveyard Island."
