History

Named in 1940 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) for Admiral Raymond S. Patton 1882-1937, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), who explored the Prince William Sound area in 1914 and served as director of U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) from 1929 until his death in 1937.
