History

Haida Indian name published in 1922 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). In 1901, J. R. Swanton, Bureau of American Ethnology (BAE), reported the name "Intun-Kun-Gidi" which means "Intun(kun)'s brother."
