Meade Glacier flows north through the Coast Mountains along the Alaska-Canada boundary, creating the Katzehin River just east of Haines.
Meade Glacier was named by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), probably for Rear Admiral R. W. Meade, 1870-1933, U.S. Navy (USN), who as commander of the U.S.S. Saginaw made a reconnaissance voyage through the Alex. Arch. in the winter of 1868-69.
