History of Bucher Glacier

Named for Dr. Walter H. Bucher (died 1965), former President of the Geological Society of America and active advisor and supporter of field research in this area. The name was proposed officially by members of the Juneau Icefield Project in 1964 although it appeared in scientific literature before then.
