History of Billings Glacier

Named in 1908 by Grant and Higgins (1910, pls. 1, 2), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for commodore Joseph Billings, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), who commanded a Russian exploring and surveying expedition in the Bering Sea and North Pacific Ocean in 1791-92.
