Historyname proposed by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1938 for Rear Admiral Lester Anthony Beardslee, 1836-1903, U.S. Navy (USN), who explored and named Glacier Bay in 1880. was used by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) to Board on Geographic Names (BGN) approval of the name Beardslee Entrance.
