History

Probably named in 1809 by Russian navigator Ivan Vasiliev the first, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 19) Imperial Russian Navy (IRN) published the name as "Mys Sitkha" or Cape Sitkha" and also called it Cape Edgecumbe."
