History of Point Vandeput

Named by Capt George Vancouver, Royal Navy (RN), in 1794 for Admiral George Vandeput, Royal Navy (RN), who died in 1800. It was reached by Lieutenant Joseph Whidbey, RN, on Aug. 16, 1794, and marked the end of one of his trips of exploration (Wagner, 1937, p. 423).
