HistoryNamed in 1794 by Captain Vancouver (1798, v. 3 p. 186), Royal Navy (RN), who on his chart has "Freemantle" and in his text "Fremantle". In the 8th edition of his voyage, in 1801, it is spelled uniformly "Feemantle."
