Named in 1885 by Lieutenant Commander Clover, U.S. Navy (USN), for Ensign Albert Parker Niblack, U.S. Navy (USN), a member of his party. This name was later shown erroneously as "Niblick" on British Admiralty (Brit. Adm.) Chart 2431.
