History of Cape Tanak

Name published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 25), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "M(ys) Tanakh," or "Cape Tanakh," from the Aleut word "tanaq," meaning "lace," according to R. H. Geoghegan. This point was called "Egorkovskoi" by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 300), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). See Egorkovskoi.
