History of Cape Idak

Name published by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 25), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "M(ys) Idakh" or "Cape Idak." R. H. Geoghegan believes the name to be the Aleut name "Idakuq" meaning "exit or outlet."
