HistoryRussian name (from the French) published by Captain Tgebenkov (1852, map 25), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "Bukh(ta) Partovaya," meaning "Party Cove." This feature was called "Glubokaya," meaning "Deep" by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 298), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name was changed to "Partov Cove" in 1938 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
