HistoryLocal name published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) on a 1909 chart. A cannery called "Ozernoi," possibly from the Russian adjective meaning "lake, " was established here in 1889, according to Lieutenant Commander J. F. Moser, U.S. Navy (USN).
