HistorySite of a mining camp established in the summer of 1900 at the height of the Nome gold rush (brooks, 1901, p. 66). Safety Post Pffice established here in 1900 and discontinued in 1902 (Ricks, 1965, p. 55). Name was taken from the lagoon.
