HistoryRussian name published in 1868 by the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office. Recorded in 1834 as "Recheshnoe," meaning "River," population 83, by Father Veniaminov (1840, v. 1, p. 151). Shown as "Nikolsky" on Petroff's 1880 Census map, and recorded with a population of 127; population 94 in 1890. The population was 94 in 1890; 109 in 1929; 97 in 1939; and 64 in 1950.
