HistoryNamed in 1953 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) geologists "because it is the last available beaching point in several miles for small boats traveling from Corwin to Ahyougatuk (Ayugatak) Lagoon" (Chapman and Sable, 1960, p. 54).
