According to Orth in 1965 the Eskimo name of this stream is "Uksukfak," the same name was reported in 1949 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) as "Ooksokwak." to be a misapplication by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) of the name "Kinak," which should be applied to the next large stream miles south.
