History of Kallarichuk River

Along this stream, in 1885, Stoney (1900, map), U.S. Navy (USN), recorded the spelling "Kal-e-gu-ri-che-ark (Reed)." The 1901 fieldsheet of D. L. Raeburn, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), retained the name "Reed River," applying the Eskimo name to a stream farther east. In 1910, P. S. Smith, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), applied the name "Kallareechuk River" to its present location.
