History

Eskimo name reported in 1842-44 as Kvyguk by Lieutenant L. A. Zagoskin, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name Ahkoolik was reported for this stream in 1900 by W. J. Peters, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
