on Copper River, at N entrance to Miles Lake, 37 mi. N of Katalla, Chugach Mts.
HistoryNamed by W. C. Mendenhall and F. C. Schrader, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in 1903. This feature is synonymous with Abercrombie Canyon and Copper River rapids. The term "canyon," as used by Lieutenant H. T. Allen, USA, is a misnomer as there is no canyon here. The name "Abercrombie" was retained by applying it to the rapids.
