HistoryNamed in 1966 by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska to preserve the native name for the Kenai Mountains. U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Constantin: "Grewingk, 1849, deriving his information from Wosnesenski, 1842, gives the native name of these mountains as Truuli, also written Truuli."
