HistoryNamed by local inhabitants for Frank H. Waskey, the first delegate to Congress from the territory of Alaska. He was a local trader and prospector and travelled much of the region. He collected information over a period of more than 30 years about local names from natives, prospectors, and airplane pilots. This name was reported in 1931 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
