History of Mount Burkett

Named by Julian D. Sears, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for Lieutenant Eugene F. Burkett, U.S. Navy (USN), a member of the Alaskan Aerial Survey Expedition of the Navy Department in 1926 and second in command of the Alaska Aerial Survey Detachment in 1929; Burkett was killed in an airplane crash in 1930.
