35 miles long. Extends SE from Maclaren River to Paxson Lake, crossed by Denali Highway, 6 mi. NW of Paxson, Alaska Range.

History

So named in 1955 by T. L. Pewe, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), because "the many well-developed cirques give the appearance of many amphitheaters".
