History

Eskimo name "Oaleek" obtained in 1898 from Reverend Wood (complete name not available), missionary; published by Spurr (1900, map 10), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Recorded as "Oz(ero) Kulyukak" by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 4), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
