About

On Makpik Creek in the Noatak River Valley, Draining into Makpik Creek, 12 mi SE of Desperation Lake, 36 mi. W of Howard Pass, Brooks Range. 4 miles long.

History

Named by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) geologists in 1950 for Michael Feniak, geologist of the Canadian Geological Survey, who drowned in Northeast Canada while on a field trip in the summer of 1949.
