About

2 mi. NW of Chamisso I., 58 mi. SW of Selawik, Kotzebue-Kobuk Low.

History

Named in 1826 by Captain Beechey (1831, p. 255), Royal Navy (RN). He wrote, "Detached from Chamisso there is a steep rock which by way of distinction we named Puffin Island." The horned puffin is one of the most abundant Alaskan sea birds.
