History

Native name published in 1847 as "O(strov) Bol(shoi) Iliazhek" or "Big Iliazhek Island" on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1379. Outer and Inner Iliasik Islands comprise the Iliasik Islands, called "Eliazik" by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 271), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), and "Ialiasik" by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 24), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
