HistoryNamed in 1879 by W. H. Dall, US@C&GS probably for Tadeusz (Thaddeus) Andrzej Bonawentura Kosciusko, 1746-1817, a Polish citizen who joined the American Revolutionary Army in 1776 as a volunteer and was appointed an engineer with the rank of colonel, later to become a major general.
