History

Reported in 1898 by Captain Abercrombie (Glenn and Abercrombie, 1899, map), USA. "According to Salvador Fidalgo's account of his expedition this island (named Isla del Conte) was at the mouth of the bay which his launch party named "Revilla Gigedo" and was no doubt so named because Revilla Gigedo was a conte" (Wagner, 1937, p. 443).
