HistoryAleut name given by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1931 in order to avoid the repition of the name Chugul. The island ws called "Os[strov] Chugula," or "Chugul Island," by Lieutenant Sarichev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
