The trailhead and beginning on the trail lie on Doyon Ltd. land. Most of the trail to Tolovana Hot Springs is on state land, while the hot springs itself is on Bureau of Land Management property leased to Tolovana Ltd.

History

Local name derived from Tolovana River; published in 1906 by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
