History

Named for Hagemeister Island by the Russians; published as "Prol(iv) Gagemeystera" by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 3), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). It was called "Hagmeister Channel" in 1890 by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF).
