History of McLeod Point

The exact identity of several points of land, in this area, named in 1837 by P W. Dease and Thomas Simpson, are difficult to determine. These points, from east to west, are Mcleod, Mcpherson, and Drew. It seems the Point Mcleod of current maps is applied to what Dease and Simpson named Point Mcpherson, and their Point Mcleod is applied to a small point 3 mi. to the E (Simpson, Thomas, 1843, p. 136-137).
