History of Griffin Point

On August 3, 1825, Sir John Franklin (1828, p. 145) wrote, "We halted to sup on a gravel reef that extends from the main shore to Point Griffin, * * *." The Eskimo name for this point of land is "Oruktalik Nuvugak," reported by US@C&GS in 1952.
