HistoryNamed by Captain Lutke (1836, p. 261), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN) for Lieutenant Arcadie Lieskof, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), a member of his party on his voyage around the world from 1826-29. This point was called "M(ys) Yskova" or "Lyskova Cape" by the Russian Hydrographic Dept. (1847, chart 1379) and Captain Tebenkov (1852, pat 24), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN). The name "Garfield" was applied to this feature by U.S. Bureau of Fisheries (USBF) in 1888.
