History

named on September 11, 1778, by Captain cook (1785, v. 2, p. 477), Royal Navy (RN). The Eskimo name is "Nuklit" (Baker, 1906, p. 214). that the old Kuskokwim /Tanana/ Indian name for McKinley would forever be preserved on a prominent feature near the top of the peak."
