History

Russian name reported by Father Veniaminov (1840, v. 2, p. 213) as "Bukh(ta) Oksenova" i.e. "Oksenova Bay" and published as Oksenof Bay by Baker (1906, p. 479). The name Oksenof Beach was given by US@C&GS in 1940 to eliminate the misleading term "bay."
